Upgrade Your Rega Planar 2 to Current Specification.
If you are the proud owner of a pre-2000 Rega Planar 2 turntable, you will be glad to know that your aging turntable can be upgraded to current specification.
You may have noticed that after some years of use your Planar 2 motor has start slowing down to the point where it will not start up without some manual assistance. Wow and flutter will also have increased over time.
If these problems are not evident, or if you are not sure that you have a motor that requires upgraded, remove the platter mat and switch on the turntable. It the motor pulley moves sideways and shudders, then you have the older motor, which was loosely suspended from the plinth.
The onboard PC board of the new P2 motor improves dramatically on the older model. Replacing your original motor with the upgrade motor will provide rock steady pitch for stable speed at 33 rpm and 45 rpm, a significant reduction in wow and flutter, and quick startup time.
Note: Performing the motor upgrade requires basic soldering skills and some familiarity with electronic circuitry.

Improve the sound quality of your pre-2000 model of the Rega Planar 3 turntable with this motor upgrade kit.
Over the past few years, Rega has fine-tuned the Planar 3's already superbly quiet motor. The new P3 motor upgrade uses no active electronic trimming devices and combines remarkable cost-effective engineering, producing extremely low vibration.
Because the new motor assembly has virtually no vibration, it can be directly coupled to the turntable plinth using the latest in adhesive pad technology commonly found in the automotive and aerospace Industry. This mounting method allows for a highly effective drive train from the motor pulley through the drive belt to the sub platter. The result is a reduction in both wow and -- particularly -- flutter that the turntable produces.
The new motor upgrade will therefore give your P3 greater control accuracy and detail.
Note: Performing the motor upgrade requires basic soldering skills and some familiarity with electronic circuitry.
